The VPN service enables users to create a secure connection to the network of the university from any where, using the own private internet connection (e.g. from home via DSL or or via mobile data) or a public connection (e.g. hotel or public Internet). The VPN connection allows access to the university's internal services and resources , such as electronic journals, software with campus licenses or also internal websites.


Connectivity and requirements

There are many ways to build a VPN connection to the university network:

  • using a VPN-Client (FortiClient, available for all known operating systems and as an APP),
  •  using the network connections of the operating system (L2TP/IPsec for Windows, Linux and MacOS),
  • using a Webportal (accessible from the webbrowser).

Booking the VPN service

The VPN service is booked for employees using a registration form. Students do not have to register separately for this, the VPN service is systematically released with the Stu account.

The VPN service is 24*7 available.
