individual configuration of spam filters
fine tuning of spam filters
In some cases it can be sensible to customize the configuration of the spam filters individually.
At present this is only possible for Hermes mailboxes and the webmail client Roundcube.
For users of Exchange an individual configuration is only possible when booking a Hermes mailbox as well.
Accessing the spam filter settings
Log in to the webmail client Roundcube and via the cogwheel symbol access the settings menu.
There, select the sub menu item "spam".
available settings
In mailboxes with several email addresses (aliases) in particular the settings are specific to each alias address.
threshold
Using the threshold you can set the value at which incoming mails will be classified as recognized spam.
A lower threshold increases the sensitivity of the spam filter - a higher threshold decreases it.
language options
The spam filter uses heuristic filtering on the text of incoming emails.
Emails in unselected languages will be marked as recognized spam.
internet based spam test
The central spam filter among other things uses blacklists for URLs (links contained in the emails) and for incoming email servers. With this option the usage of blacklists can be deactivated.
address rules
With the help of address rules black- and whitelists of sender email addresses can be created. With this individual sender addresses can be excluded from the spam recognition for example.
We recommend using the blacklist ("reject mails from") sparingly. The sender addresses of spam emails usually vary strongly and are often spoofed. Blocking of sender addresses is therefore often not useful or even detrimental. In case of a spoofed address you might potentially block a legitimate sender.
It is also possbile to white- or blacklist entire sender address domains. To do this use the syntax *@spammer.de .
