Dealing with RZ applications
The application for services provided by the Computing Center (RZ) currently follows a so-called "semi-digital" process. While full digitalization of the application procedure is planned, a pragmatic interim solution is currently in place that allows processing without the need for paper documents.
Filling out the application
The applicant downloads the current application form from the RZ website, completes it electronically in PDF format, and signs it. Both handwritten signatures (after printing and scanning) and digital signatures (e.g., using PDF software) are accepted.
Digital Submission
The signed application is either scanned or saved as a digitally signed PDF. Fully signed applications can then be sent to the user administration of the Computing Center.
If the account administration or IT representative is unable to provide a signature, an approval sent from their official email address is also sufficient for these roles.
A possible procedure could therefore be as follows:
- The applicant completes the application, signs it, and—if necessary—sends it to the IT representative.
- The IT representative forwards the application to the account administration and includes the statement “I approve the attached application” in the email.
- The account administration sends the application to the user administration of the Computing Center, including the statement “I approve the attached application” in the email.
Optional dispatch via internal mail
If the original document is to be sent to the Computing Center, it should be marked with "Sent in advance by email." In general, however, the original is not required by the Computing Center.
Important notes
- Digital signatures are fully accepted and considered legally binding.
- It is especially important to always use the current version of the application form, which is available on the RZ website in the forms section.
