configure video streaming

Live streaming via the streaming servers of Kiel University (CAU) can be initiated through a web server as well as any hard or software capable of using the RTMP protocol. The following applications and hardware devices have been tested with the streaming server of Kiel University.

Hardware Encoder

With the hardware encoders the streaming key have already been configured. Here you can enable the transmission of a live stream with a single click.
 

Webbrowser

When using a web browser for this purpose the web publisher matching the assigned streaming key. The resulting URL follows this format:

• https://videoportal.rz.uni-kiel.de/LiveApp/Publish/<streaming key>

After selecting your audio and video sources the stream can be started.

Applications

Several applications are able to send a live feed to our streaming server via RTMP protocol. The utilized links follow this form:

• rtmp://rtmp.rz.uni-kiel.de/LiveApp/<streaming key>

example for OBS-Studio:

* under "Settings", "Stream" select the "Custom" service
* for "Server" enter the link to the corresponig LiveApp
* for "Streaming Key" enter the key that you have been issued by us
* after setting up audio and video you can start the stream
